Solar Industry Economic Development Trickledown Effect on Arizona's Economy

The solar industry offers the state of Arizona the best way to solve its economic downturn. More than anything, Arizona voters want an honest way to make a living. Passing $12,000 solar tax credit and an SREC Trading Exchange would significantly boost Arizona's dwindling economy.

Arizona Solar Tax Credit's Economic Development Impact

What type of impact would the "Go Solar in Arizona" Economic Development Initiative have on Arizona's local economy?

A Solar Tax Credit Would Help Create Thousands of Solar Jobs

If a mere 5% penetration level was achieved with 5,000-watt distributed energy solar rooftop installations, then it would generate 83,940 residential installations. It would require more than 1,300 new solar installation companies that would employ more then 13,000 employees. If employees earned an average salary of $35,000 per year these jobs would generate $489,650,708 of new salaries.

Solar Would Generate $1.8 Billion in State Taxable Revenue

At installation price of $4.50 per watt, a 5% penetration level of 5,000-kilowatt solar systems on 83,940 homes would generate a revenue stream of approximately $1.8 billion. This solar installation revenue would be be spent on office space, trucks, fuel, hardware tools and supplies, printed marketing material, advertising, office equipment, office supplies, etc.

Every business in Arizona would benefit from the infusion of solar installation revenue and the state of Arizona would benefit from a substantial amount of increased the tax revenue as local businesses and the local economy surges with solar cash.

Solar Installations Would Create the Demand for 2 Million Solar Panels

Solar installations would create the demand for 2,098,503 solar panels at 200-watts each. If panels were selling at $1.75 per watt, then global solar manufacturing companies would see the potential to earn $734,476,063 if they opened a solar manufacturing plant in Arizona. Solar panel companies would open manufacturing plants in Arizona simply to save on shipping costs. More solar manufacturing plants means more Arizona jobs.

Create $25 Million in Solar Installation Permit Fees for Cities

If the top 50 Arizona cities and towns charged a $300 solar installation permit fee, a 5% penetration would generate $25,182,036 for local municipalities.
